Cocktail 11.2.1 (High Sierra Edition) is ready for macOS 10.13.2

Maintain has served up Cocktail 11.2.1 (High Sierra Edition), a new edition of Cocktail for users running macOS High Sierra.

It’s a general purpose utility for macOS that lets users clean, repair and optimize their Macs. The new version adds compatibility with macOS 10.13.2. It also resolves a number of other minor issues discovered in the previous release.

Cocktail costs $19 for a single user license and available for purchase from the Maintain website (http://www.maintain.se/cocktail/). When unregistered, Cocktail runs in demo mode and will expire after the tenth launch.

RE:Vision Effects announces RE:Lens for FCP X and Motion

RE:Vision Effects has announced RE:Lens (http://revisionfx.com/products/relens/), a plug-in set for 360 (equirectangular) and fisheye workflow, for Apple’s Final Cut Pro X and Motion.

You can shoot with a superfish lens on a single camera and convert the video to Latitude-Longitude (LatLong) format suitable for use with all major 360 viewers. With the proper lens and camera setup, RE:Lens eliminates stitching from your panorama projects.

Apple issues four new developer betas

Apple has issued the third developer betas of iOS 11.2.5, watchOS 4.2.2, tvOS 11.2.5, and macOS 10.13.3. Registered developers can download them from Apple's Developer Center — or over-the-air once the proper configuration profile has been installed from the Developer Center.

ContactsMate 4.2.0 is ready for macOS High Sierra

Cisdem (www.cisdem.com) has given us ContactsMate 4.2.0 for Mac. It’s an update of the contact management software that will analyze, report, and fix issues with macOS Contacts.

It will also and export the Mac Address Book to different formats for contacts back-up or syncing. Version 4 is compatible with macOS High Sierra.

A demo of ContactsMate is available for download. Registration is $29.99. The app requires macOS 10.11 or higher.

Apple releases macOS 11.13.2 Supplemental Update, iOS 11.2.2 with security fixes

Apple has released macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 and iOS 11.2.2 with, among other things, security fixes for the recently reported Spectre vulnerability.

macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 is a free update for all customers who have a compatible machine. The update can be downloaded using the Software Update function in the Mac App Store.

iOS 11.2.2 can be downloaded for free on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app. Go to Settings --> General --> Software Update.

iMobie AnyTrans now supports transferring, managing all Android data

iMobie has announced today AnyTrans 6.3.0 (https://tinyurl.com/y8597na9), an update to their mobile content manager for macOS and Windows. It offers bi-directional transfer across multiple devices.

AnyTrans works with iOS and Android data. Version 6.3.0 offers the ability to transfer and manage almost all data from Android to Android or from an iOS device to an Android device.

AnyTrans 6.3.0 costs $39.99 for a single-user license, and $59.99 for a family license. A demo is available for download.

CyberByte AntiVirus 2.1 released for the Mac

CyberByte has released CyberByte Antivirus 2.1.1, an t update to their antivirus and internet security application for Macs.

The security app provides protection against threats by scanning for and removing viruses, malware, and adware. The utility also scans any local network for all connected devices, allowing users to ensure that no unknown devices are connected to their network.

Apple’s App Store sees a record-breaking holiday season

Apple has announced that App Store customers around the world made apps and games a bigger part of their holiday season in 2017 than ever before, culminating in $300 million in purchases made on New Year’s Day 2018. During the week starting on Christmas Eve, a record number of customers made purchases or downloaded apps from the App Store, spending over $890 million in that seven-day period.
